These two players share more than their last name. Both are great attackers who will hopefully play against each other in the World Cup’s first game. They are probably doing their one and only World Cup at the peak of their career. David is a bit older and had his best season a few years ago, but is still a good player. David and Humberto are currently injured and unsure if they will be able to play the first game. Humberto had been out for a month for his shoulder when he pulled a hamstring in his comeback game. David suffered an unspecified muscular injury in an International friendly against Romania. They have as for today both been training with their teams and are hopefully on the field on Wednesday, maybe as starters or substitutes.

Both players are incredibly important for their teams. Neither of the countries have a large selection of attacker to chose from their 23-man World Cup squad. Humberto’s season has been better than David’s, as he ended the as the top goal scorer in the South American World Cup qualification. He has won the top goal scorer for his Mexican club Monterrey two times and did very well when he was lent to Real Zaragoza as he helped them climb the league table and qualify for next year’s La Liga. David was great when he played for Italian Club Cagliari, as he won the Serie A Foreign Player of the Year award in 2006. Inter bought him after that, only to be lent out to Benfica and Genoa.
